marcus sendlinger
Interdisciplinary artist, abstract painter, drawer, mechanic and musician concerned with the recontextualization of product materials in painting, sculpture and installation in response to social and cultural phenomena, history and the environment.
"Preserving cultural finds from different times during my travels or in my surroundings (magazines, photos, posters, books, notes) and combining them with current product materials in combination with painting and drawing recontextualizes and reflects the past, the present, and the possible future.
Inspired by and as a pointing out social and cultural phenomena, history, and the history of painting, the environment and the media (film), I create my version of drawing and painting where I mix different worlds to create a contemporary discourse.
The titles play with ambiguity in relation to their creation as “part traditional and part electromatic,” as a reminiscence of photograms, TV reality shows, video games, machines, engines, power plants, motifs from travel, personal encounters, local plants and environments, fantasy, clichés, and internet research."
